…But I am moving to Columbus!!! Yay!!! No more long distance!! I’ve been saying that I had exciting news to share and now (FINALLY!) I can share with photos! Drew (being the great boyfriend that he is) has been doing most of the running around in Columbus to find us a place to live. The original plan was to move when my lease was up in Royal Oak, which is April. But, as life normally goes, as soon as we made the plans, everything changes. Drew had organized a flag football team with a few of his buddies. At their first game, he tore his ACL and now needs surgery and rehab. He had to schedule the surgery for March 12 and we both knew he wouldn’t be much help in moving after that. Sooooooo we moved a few things around and now I’m moving the majority of my things at the end of February. His knee is doing pretty well. He can get around on it and the stiffness isn’t as bad any more. So he’ll be a great foreman and director at my big move. But that’s better than being stuck in bed!
A special thanks to my mom for finding this place on line and directing my attention to it. (I then directed Drew to check it out immediately!) As soon as he walked in (without me!) he told the realtor we’d take it! It’s beautiful!!!
I’m going to post the photos as if you’re taking the tour with me. This first photo isn’t mine. I stole it from the website. It was raining/snowing so hard when we got there, I didn’t want to stand outside with my baby (aka, my camera).
It is a row house in the heart of German Village. We are just a little over a mile south of downtown Columbus and surrounded by fun local restaurants and bars. Our street is a beautiful tree-lined one way with dogs everywhere! Beauy is going to love it!
This is our living room and then dining room. The fire place is sealed, but still makes for a nice accent. The floors are Brazillian Cherry Hardwood….gorgeous!
The living and dining room are seperated by old pocket doors.
I love, love, love the light fixtures through out the house!
This is our favorite part of the house…the very new and updated kitchen!
While we were looking for places to live, we had a few requirements….hard wood floors, fenced in back yard, at least a 2 bedroom with a full basement and somewhat updated appliances. This is actually a tall order, considering everything for rent is considerably old. So when we saw what was in this row house, we didn’t hesitate to put down a deposit. I can’t wait for Beauy to try out his new back yard!
There is a little covered back porch and some landscaping in the back yard. It was kind of difficult to see, since everything was covered in snow and ice! Next is a trip upstairs….as soon as you get to the top of the stairs, you see this amazing bathroom….
This is our second favorite part of the house!!! I love the exposed brick and SO MUCH STORAGE!!
I really like the tile they chose to put in the bathroom. The glass block window lets in a ton of natural light. No more dark bathrooms!
Even though the house has been completely renovated, they kept most of it’s original charm. The little windows above the doorway reminded me of my Grandma Dee’s house. I took this photo standing in the master bedroom.
This is the master bedroom and below is the spare.
I’m excited to have a real spare bedroom too. This room is beautiful and Saucey is going to LOVE the window ledge!
In case you didn’t notice, Drew’s closet is to the left. He’s graciously giving me the big one. I love him.
So that’s it!! I have photos of the basement and laundry room, but they aren’t as exciting as the rest of the house. I’ve been mentally decorating and arranging furniture allllll day long, so I’m happy to have these up so both of our mother’s can get to work as well. 🙂 They’ll have great ideas for interior decorating.
I promise to never be an OSU fan. I know I’m relocating to Buckeye country…but Drew and I stand firm in our devotion to the Mountaineers, the Steelers, the Spartans (more me than him) and the Dukies (more him than me). I’m really excited to start this new chapter in my life. Still, I’m a little emotional about leaving behind the great friends that I’ve made in Royal Oak and especially my roommate of almost 9 years, Emily. (It’s the end of an era!! We’re Monica and Rachel!) Drew and I are already planning a huge house warming party and I’m making Team Detroit promise to be in attendance. We’re also already worrying about our precious floors with so many people in the house…the cost of getting older!
We haven’t done much else today (it was a snow day for Columbus…even Drew didn’t have to go to work!) So after our adventure to German Village, we’ve been laying low, playing music and watching HGTV! I love this photo that I took of Drew playing his guitar. It’s one of my favorites!
Stay warm and safe wherever you are tonight! Thanks for sharing in our excitement!!
