I’ve finally unpacked Mac in his new home! He moved from sitting on the floor in the bedroom to having his very own spot in our new office…aka The Basement. Most basements might sound like a yucky place to be spending your work hours…however, our basement is fantastic! It’s partially finished with nice lighting. There is a glass block window that lets in natural light during the day and recessed lighting is used at night. Drew and I decided to share the basement as our studio/office. He has set up his drums and music things in one corner and I have my desk, work and photography in another. The other half of the basement is unfinished…but we use that as the laundry room and storage center.
Having Drew’s music in the basement has it’s risks. For one thing…if you ask him to run down and grab something out of the dryer he’ll do it – being the wonderful man that he is. However, you better be prepared for a 7 minute pit stop while he takes a detour and plays his drums. (Which I really don’t mind…he’s just so sweet, you can’t really get mad at him for it.) Another risk we run into is dualing studio time. If I come down to post a blog entry or process a few photos, I may have his drum practice as my background music.
🙂 In all honesty, I welcome his musical drop ins and love the company he brings. All in all, our move-in is going great. A few hiccups along the way – we STILL can’t figure out a way to arrange the spare bedroom…it’s such an akward room! – but overall, it’s been pretty flawless and a fun new adventure together. I’m hoping to get some quality Mac time this weekend, but it’s supposed to be in the 60’s!! So you can’t blame me for spending it outside! Have a great week!
