Bad Hair Day

Parents always seem to give their kid at least one bad hair cut in their lives. I remember mine…I wanted a mullet, and thankfully they just trimmed my bangs back to my ears. Today is the day I gave Beauy his first bad hair cut. The groomer and I had different visions…I envisioned a slightly sheared down doggie that was still fluffy. When I went to pick him up with my vision firmly implanted in my mind…well…put it this way. I didn’t even recognize our own dog. Don’t get me wrong, she did exactly what I asked – just not what I had envisioned. And Beauy was romping around the doggie salon like he owned the place when I got there. He was also chewing on a massive cow hide – that will come back to haunt us in two days. I just couldn’t stop laughing when I realized that was him. I’m STILL laughing. Look at how adorably sweet he is. He looks and is acting like a puppy. I swear…getting rid of 10 pounds of dog fur has given Beauy new life. I took him for a 2 mile run right after the hair cut and he still ran laps in the back yard after we got home. He’s incredibly happy…and looks hysterical.

img_07501Drew says that the picture above looks like I Photoshopped his head onto a dog body. I didn’t.

Saucy comes to investigate this new look on her brother.

Saucy is looking at me and thinking “What is wrong with you? We will be the laughing stock of the neighborhood.” But every time I look at little Beauy today, I smile and give him a big hug. And I haven’t seen a single dog hair all day.

Mary Ann - Oh Megan… I am laughing out loud!! It looks like you photoshopped his head onto a different dog’s body. That is hysterical! I am sure he is feeling skinny! Hope the temperature doesn’t nose dive in Columbus!

Loved the table and chairs! Wow! You guys are so lucky!

Bob & Criss Welshans - Hi Megan. I have to say that I’ve been near tears and laughing in the span of the last 15 minutes as I ate supper and took a look at the new photos and blogs on your web-site. Bob and I are big animal people too and I know they are “children”, so the photos of your “kids” are priceless. I love the look of the new house and am happy to know that you are close to us now.

Take care.

Allison - Hi there! I just came across your blog…I too have a husky, she is a girl though! Beau looks soooo funny shaved. Everyone I know has told me to never shave Calli (my husky) because it could cause more harm than good. They also said regardless of heat they stay cool so not to worry. Right now is the worst time for shedding! How old is Beau…AND to make my story even better…we also have a black cat, although he is a BOY! 🙂

Brianna - Hello,
To start off, I’m a groomer, and I would NEVER recommend to shave a Husky. On top of running the risk of permanently damaging the dog’s coat, it’s also risky for their well being. Take a look at this blog post:

Secondly, if you feed your dog the right diet, and brush your dog regularly (or have him brushed out by his groomer between baths) the shedding will be significantly reduced.

We do everything we can to help our customers understand why shaving Haskies (or Pomeranians, Shiba Inus, Jindos, etc) is never in their best interest.
