New Look

It’s been a busy week with work and house keeping. We are having a few friends from out of town in this weekend to help us break in our new house and celebrate the arrival of spring. I took a moment out of my preparations to try out a new editing technique. I normally don’t edit my photos too much in Photoshop because I’m afraid it will take away the authenticity of the photograph. However, I found a website that is for photographers and Photoshop that helps bring out the details in your portraits and landscapes. I’m in LOVE with it!!! If you are a photographer or a Photoshop enthusiast, check out this website www.mcpactions.com. Here are a few examples of what I was able to do with her actions.

Here is the original photograph that I took of the sun going down over Lake Michigan.

Now here is that SAME photograph after I punched up the colors. Isn’t the difference incredible?!?

I’m in-love!!! The cool thing is that I’ve been in final editing phase for Cacti and these actions have really come in handy. Their demo CD is DONE and they are in the production phase right now wrapping up their CD cover. We are going to have 100 copies to hand out at the Grandview Cafe tomorrow night. I don’t think my photographs will be ready by then, so it will just have their logo on it.  I really stepped out of my comfort zone and added cool overtones to the Cacti photos. It definitely gave them more of an urban rock and roll feeling. Here is an original photo of the boys….

And here is the edited version after using an MCP Action…this was Cacti’s favorite.

I now have to admit that it does look pretty cool…especially if it’s going inside of a rock-n-roll CD jacket. Anyone that is interested in the Cacti demo CD, send me an email with your mailing address. (mnrphotography@gmail.com) They have limited copies, so hurry, hurry!

Also, if you’d like any of the photos featured on my blog printed, please contact me! I will remove my watermark (the logo) and send you the print in any size that you’d like.

I will probably be off for most of the weekend. We are going to be pretty busy! Have a great one!
