I packed up the car this weekend and headed north to see my parents in Grand Haven, MI. Beauy and I had a fantastic weekend relaxing, visiting, and eating good food. 🙂 Drew had to stay behind in Columbus to work, but Kitty kept him company. If you read my previous blog post, you know that we are moving soon. YAY! We are moving into a house that is a total blank canvas…so my decorating wheels are turning. It was nice to walk into my Mother’s house…she has completely made over her kitchen and dining room all on her own (with the help of my dad, brother, You Tube and a couple helpful people at her local Home Depot.) Thanks to her, I have tons of new ideas! So if you’re looking for a little inspiration….look no further! Check out her GORGEOUS dining room and kitchen!!
We had lots of fun staging the dining room table!!
The chandelier in the far right photograph has yet to be changed. Mom, I think you should make a ceiling medallion! I want one, too! For additional seating, she added hand painted stools around the bar. This one has the year they were married on it. So creative!! I also love the addition of the bench at the dining room table.
Obviously, it’s allllll in the details. Below, you can see my favorites…
In the upper right hand corner, you see the Cooper sign that was on my Grandaddy’s hearse for the Cooper Funeral Home. Yes, my mother and her sister and brother were like Vada!!! (Please tell me you got that reference…) To the right of that, are more details that my mother did herself. That little dish that holds their wedding rings was a soy sauce dish for sushi! In the lower left hand corner is a detailed shot of her cabinets. She painted them all white and then hand sanded them to give them an antiqued look. Gorgeous! The lower right hand corner is an old cabinet door that she turned into a chalk board. Everyone loves it!
Those antique napkin rings were used at my Grandmother and Grandaddy’s wedding. They say “Tommy” and “Dee”. Love them.
I love, love the dining room buffet. It used to be an old yucky brown color that screamed out-dated! She painted it (duh…that is the theme of this make over!) and now it really pops in the dining room. Do you like the new hard wood floors? She also installed those all on her own.
Needless to say, I have tons of inspiration coming from all fronts…between my mother and Drew’s, our new house will be photographed by BH&G in no time!
Beautiful job, Miss Mary Ann…as always! I’m so proud of what you’ve done so far and can’t wait to see the finished details. Love you! Thanks for a great weekend!
