I spend my days photographing special days, feelings, emotions and love for a number of fantastic people. I couldn’t feel more blessed doing what I do. And then one day…it was my turn. You may have heard me say in the past that I don’t like being on the other side of the camera….that was just because I wasn’t in front of the right camera for the right reasons. Two words: Kevin Keefer. He’s a good friend and fellow photographer that I’ve gotten to know over the last year. Even though he isn’t photographing our wedding…I’m beyond happy that we had the chance to play with an engagement session. Kevin…you are awesome. We both had so much fun and you made us feel so comfortable.
So here’s how the day started. First, I’ve been on a serious budget since the engagement. Every extra penny we have goes towards the wedding. This has put a serious damper on my clothes, shoes and accessory shopping habits that I tend to have. However, as our engagement session approached, I HAD to get out and buy a few new things for Drew and I to rock in front of the camera. I’m forever helping clients pick out awesome attire for their shoots and I FINALLY got to do it for myself! What fun!! (And this shopping spree was wedding associated.)
Drew kept asking me how long the session would take. I told him no more than 2 hours. But the more fun I had….the longer it went (bless you Kevin AND Drew!). We were out for almost 3 hours. You’ll see the in the photographs towards the end where Drew is whispering to me “I’m so hungry.” And I have to commend Drew for his amazing patience. He knows how important photographs of this time in our lives are to me and he was more than accommodating…he was awesome.
So we kicked the session off in our room with our babies. Yes, it was important to me and to Drew to have photos with Sasha Kitty and Beau in them.
Love Beau’s ever-present tongue and Sasha’s face in the corner of the collage. Very Kitty-like. 🙂
This next location was a little bit of a detour on our way to the Park of Roses. I’ve photographed a few of my senior models here and wanted a few photographs for myself. It’s a little creepy location, but the color is fantastic. Worth it!
For some absurd reason, when we were shopping for new clothes, I said No to the Van Halen t-shirt at first. I didn’t want him in another black t-shirt. Then after I got home, I remembered just how hot Drew is when he wears black t-shirts. I went back to the mall to get him his t-shirt. I wasn’t disappointed. 😉 Isn’t he the most beautiful man you’ve ever seen. (That’s a statement, not a question.) Mmmmhmmmm!!
Above is the photographic definition of Megan&DrewTime. We were really going for some serious-faced photos. But we have trouble pulling serious off.
We arrived at the Park of Roses and were greeted by 1,000,000 mosquitoes. We stayed tough though. Kevin…I love this photo. It’s a serious contender for a huge canvas in our living room.
Hellooooo muscles!! I love the one above on the right. I look so tiny in his arms!
Again…I might be blowing this last one up to put somewhere in our house. We don’t have lots of photos of us up, and this one is so fantastic. I asked Kevin for something like this…he read my mind! If you are able to deliver something soooo incredibly close to what a client wants, then you provide an incredible service. Standing O for my buddy Kevin!! Really….have you checked out his site yet? Do it.
And to wrap up this fantastically awesome engagement session….one of Beauy who is not allowed on our bed. We are such enforcers.
