To think that this shoot began over 14 years ago is mind boggling. But it did! I met Katie at my very first job when I was 16 years old. We worked at this tiny t-shirt shop in Grand Haven which, you guessed it….sold tourists t-shirts. I don’t think it’s in business anymore because I just Googled it and nothing came up. (I promise, Katie and I did NOT cause this place to go out of business…if anything we kept this place going with our fabulous customer service.) Katie was definitely the Queen of the shop when I came in and she showed me the ropes. Like how to expertly fold a t-shirt….which I still do to this day. I LOVED it when we worked together. She was fun, we made fun of the tourists, we snacked on ice cream from the store next door, we talked about boys, we jammed to country music, and gossiped about our high schools. She went to Spring Lake High School, which was across the bridge – and a whole other world to me – and I went to Grand Haven.
Over time we both went our separate ways from the t-shirt shop and after high school, then college, then the “after college” life, we lost touch. But now again, I’m thanking the Facebook gods for putting us in touch after all these years. Not only did I get to see Katie…but I got to meet her entire PRECIOUS family when they made the trek down to Columbus for her nephew’s first birthday. In addition to meeting her family and her parents, I was also introduced to her brother Dave and his GORGEOUS family who moved to Columbus about ten years ago. It was so wonderful to meet fellow transplanted Michiganders in the middle of Buckeye Nation. 🙂 And needless to say, I was beyond thrilled when they said they wanted to do a big family shoot with me.
We decided to kick this big family session off at Franklin Park Conservatory. I really wanted to start the day off with some outdoor photos because the trees are just starting to bloom. Now again, this is a sneak peek, which is intended to leave you begging for more. But of course, I couldn’t choose just one photo. So I chose a few favorite individuals and an awesome group shot of all the cousins together.
I hope you guys had a fantastic weekend together full of friends, family and love. Thank you, thank you for allowing me to be a tiny part of your day! I can’t wait to show you more!
