When you scroll through this blog post, you will see the love, beauty, energy, excitement and joy that was radiating throughout the day on June 17 in downtown East Lansing, Michigan at the Radisson hotel. To say that I was excited, honored and thrilled to be a part of Allison and Ryan’s day just doesn’t justify my emotions. As I walked into the Radisson and started looking around I heard a voice call my name and turned around to see Allison…GORGEOUS Allison, with her hair done and just GLOWING with the anticipation of her wedding day and vow renewal to Ryan. After hugs and introductions to my fabulous second shooter Karen from K2 Studios, we went upstairs to the bridal suite to start my favorite part of the wedding day…the “getting ready” process. Allison…you truly are a beautiful girl inside and out…but on your wedding day, you were stunning! LOOK AT YOU!!
After some fun girl time and some serious pampering and primping, I finally told Ally that it was time to see Ryan for the first time. Allison and Ryan chose to do a First Look. A First Look is a private moment between the bride and groom before the ceremony. We set it up in a beautiful location – here we chose a staircase over a park!! – where Ryan had his back to Ally until she got close to him…then he turned around to see his bride for the first time. The reaction never fails. Huge smiles, a few tears, and pure, blissful, happiness. Exactly like Ryan’s reaction below…
The best part about the First Look is that it takes away all the nerves and most of the anxiety that comes with walking down the aisle in front of all of your guests to see your groom for the first time at the alter. This way it’s more private and intimate and you can capture every moment on camera. And then (my favorite part!) we can take all of your portraits before the ceremony. So after the ceremony there is no rush to get everything done. Things are a bit more relaxed and laid back. Which for a bride and groom…is a major plus. I’d order that off the wedding day menu any time.
I definitely had a soft spot for Ally and Ryan’s little niece over there. I was also secretly jealous of her fabulous head piece.
Their colors were beautiful! Navy blue and hot pink were a beautiful contrast in their gorgeous ball room. And the river rock idea was such a unique way for guests to sign in!
I LOVE Allison’s expression! Obviously Ryan and Allison have great friends. Their wedding party was a riot! All of their speeches were entertaining and heartfelt. You were both surrounded by love and friendship that day. You are truly blessed.
I think the MVP of the wedding was the Chocolate Fountain…
Look at that chocolate on the arm! That is the sign of a fabulous wedding. I could have spent hours watching these adorable kiddos and this Chocolate Fountain. The photo opps were hilariously precious. Thank goodness for well prepared mothers and their baby wipes. 🙂
Allison and Ryan’s first dance spotlight was shared with one of the sweetest little flower girls I’ve ever seen! Her mother was nearby so she reluctantly left the dance floor. After that Ally and Ryan had the floor all to themselves. It was heartwarming!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Boutwell!! Your wedding day was beautiful! Thank you for letting us be a small part of it. We wish you a lifetime full of happiness, many blessings, and joy. xoxo
