Do the hormones that cause instant misty eyes ever leave a new mother’s body? Will I always be this sappy, emotional gal that can tear up at a moments notice? My husband hopes not. But the proof is in the title of this blog post and the fact that I’m still typing with watery eyes and a very, very happy heart. Some of our dearest friends are expecting their first child at the end of July. And it’s a girl. I’ve already married Leo off to many beautiful baby girls, but this one….well, we’re really hoping it works out. 😉
We met Scott and Amy when Drew and I were living in German Village. They were our neighbors. When Drew and I moved in we were just babies. So we did what any new couple living together in the big bad city for the first time would do. We threw a raging house party. In an effort to get to know our neighbors and to entice them not to call the police on us because of the noise, we sent out flyers to the surrounding neighbors inviting them to join in on the fun. Scott and Amy happened to be those neighbors. And the rest as they say…is history.
Look at these two. You can’t help but to laugh and smile when you are around them. Their love for each other radiates. When Amy said that she’d like me to shoot their maternity session when they were visiting Columbus I was ecstatic. They were my first session after Leo was born (Leo’s first time with the sitter!) They were the first session to visit the location I saved for my own maternity session with Jenny Barnes Photography. And they were my first maternity session of the year! Lotsa firsts!
Amy, you are the most beautiful little mama.
Our friendship has endured two moves. The first was when Drew and I moved from German Village to Clintonville. That stunk. We were no longer next door neighbors. But we survived. A short drive up Fourth Street and we were together again. Then Scott and Amy moved. To FLORIDA. That really stunk. We were no longer in the same STATE! But Drew and I have learned that it’s really a short plane ride and now we have best friends who live near a beach. Not just any beach…Sanibel Island. And the best crab legs you can imagine. We miss you guys. But we love visiting!
And now we have an even better reason to visit (other than beautiful beaches and crab legs). Our kids get to grow up together. I will never forget the night you told us you were pregnant. I can’t remember where we were or what we were wearing (I know we looked super cute). But I remember your face and that my huge pregnant belly almost knocked the table over as I got up to tackle you. I’m so excited for you both. I know in my heart, to the center of my core, that you will both make truly amazing parents. This is one lucky little girl.
Scotty I love this photo of you! So handsome!! And you were such a good sport. Made your gorgeous wife laugh on demand (cause that’s what he does.) And kept us both entertained the entire time. Your Facebook profile photos turned out great too. 😉
To say that we miss you two is obviously an understatement. BGF (Baby Girl Fulton) is one lucky little girl to be born to such loving, kind and special parents. We are excited to be on this journey with you two and can’t wait to meet this darling little baby. Thank you for allowing me to photograph this precious time in your life. It was heartwarming to see it through the lens of my camera. I love you guys. Congratulations! xoxo
