The first time Sara and I chatted about Adlee’s newborn photos, we were both in tears halfway through the conversation. Every newborn story is precious, dear, exciting and awesome. But this story reached down into the deepest parts of me. Enjoy my favorites from our time together.
Adoptions are incredibly special and close to my heart. I was at the airport when my aunt and uncle arrived home from China with my sweet baby cousin. It’s a moment I will never, ever forget. I met Sara & Tony’s new daughter when she was just 8 days old. With Sara and Tony’s permission, I’d like to share some of their story.
Sara & Tony started their journey to become parents in 2011 and went through many rounds of clomid, IUI and IVF without the success of getting pregnant. Unfortunately, they both have infertility issues that may never allow them to conceive. To say that the last three and half years have been a hardship would be an understatement. However, their adoption of Adlee has been more amazing than they could ever imagine it to be. And I must add, parenting looks incredibly good on you two. And oh-so-natural.
They started the adoption process in January of 2014 with Choice Network out of Grandview, OH. Sara and Tony both raved about how much they loved this agency. I know how emotional and stressful the adoption process can be. I watched my family go through it.
The day came where Tony & Sara were selected to meet with a family. As it turned out, that family wasn’t meant to be “theirs”. Another no-go on their journey. On May 30th, they received another phone call for a potential match. A birth-mom, who had made the wonderful plan to place her child for adoption, had chosen them. They met her in person on May 31st and Sara felt an immediate connection.
When Choice Network contacted them with their match, they had two weeks to prepare for Adlee’s arrival. CAN YOU IMAGINE?!?! Two weeks!!!! Sara said that it was a crazy and emotional two weeks of prep. I’d be LOSING MY MIND! And actually, I kind of did. I may have texted Sara for an update more than their own family did. Possible? One thing they could cross off their to-do list right away was the nursery. They had been working on baby girl’s room all along. It was therapeutic for Sara. And a room she is extremely proud of. As she should be!! LOOK AT THAT COLOR! I love!!
Adlee was born on June 16th. And get this…June 16th was Sara and Tony’s due date from their first IVF transfer. Miracles DO HAPPEN friends!
Tony has daddy’s magic touch. I love how infants curl up on your chest when they sleep. It doesn’t last long…so do it often.
Sara, motherhood looks so, so good on you. These make me all teary. Again! These two are high on my list of faves.
To say that this little girl is loved, just isn’t saying enough. She is your miracle. And she is oh-so-perfect. I can’t thank you enough for trusting me with your precious girl’s first portraits. I hope you love them as much as I do. Congratulations Sara, Tony and Adlee! You make THE perfect family. xoxo
