I LOVE going back to my hometown to photograph engagement sessions. When I look through these images it reminds me of how dang lucky I was to grow up in a crazy-beautiful place like this. Holly & Ryan understand this and wanted their photos taken in the most gorgeous spots in town. I was on board. They were TROOPERS during their session. Especially since it began at sunrise and was a balmy 35 degrees. (That sounds especially warm with the cold snap we’re going through right now.) Enjoy my faaaaaaaves from our morning together!
Ryan’s parents live on Spring Lake and have a GORGEOUS home and back yard. Their wedding will be close to this very spot.
This one has the potential to be blown up on a hauuuuuuuuuge canvas and hung on your favorite wall.
Holly you are stunning! You will be the most beautiful bride! And that image on the right? FAVE!!
Holly requested this photo. I love it.
Ryan has this way of making Holly laugh. I used it to my advantage. 😉
When we were heading back to the car, Holly mentioned that we should try a spot where the “bare trees” are. I had no idea what “bare trees” were and I actually thought she meant BEAR trees…like bears love them. (I know…weird thought.) When we came into this spot in the woods that was full of tall PINE trees…Ryan and I both had an AH-HA moment. Holly, you’re freaking adorable and this spot was MONEY!!!! Good job!
Congratulations you two!!! Thank you for being AMAZE-ing, tolerating the cold, and my over-shooting of your fabulous-ness. I can’t WAIT for your wedding next summer!

RYAN :: Hometown :: Grand Haven, Michigan :: Described by Holly :: supportive, passionate, dependable, loyal & thoughtful :: Advice :: There is a lot more that goes into a wedding than you would think. From the outside looking in, I thought it would be a breeze. Trying to call/e-mail everyone while also working and going through your normal life is a lot more difficult than you realize.
HOLLY :: Hometown :: Grand Haven, Michigan :: Described by Ryan :: stunning, caring, thoughtful, gorgeous and passionate :: Advice :: Plan with your fiance! The day should reflect both of you as a couple.
How He Asked :: I had planned this for a few years before it actually happened. The timing needed to be right and I wanted to have the right ring. The first time I told Holly I loved her was on my 24th birthday, in Vail, CO on a bridge over Gore Creek. We were in Vail for my 30th birthday and I took her to the exact same spot I had first told her I loved her. I got down on one knee and as she’ll tell you, I told her that she “saved my life and I couldn’t live without her.” (It didn’t go exactly that way) 🙂 although I definitely could not live without her.
