I’m ending my year on a super duper high note. I’ve been waaaaaaiiiiiiiiiting to process these images and post them until I had the majority of my to-do list complete. (I know my family and Corey’s family have been dying to see them as well. I really appreciate you guys not asking for them every other day. I know that took constraint and self-control.) 😉
Every holiday my mother and I sat down and casually grilled Troy on his dating life. He never caved. Never even gave us a hint of the possibility that someone special might be in his life. I started to suspect that Corey existed in my brother’s life when he started coming around with gel in his hair. My mother and I texted and day dreamed about this possibility. The texts and suspicions increased when Troy called me for…..wait for it……wardrobe advice. Something is brewing!!
And when we finally met Corey all of our hopes and dreams were answered. This girl is legit. She loves DMB, red wine and we (meaning her and I…cause that’s what matters) are practically the same height. I was in-love. And to see my brother so content and happy brought tears to my eyes. I love you guys and I’m so happy Corey is a part of our wild, loud, fun and crazy family. Enjoy a few (it was next to impossible to narrow them down!) of my favorite photos from our very chilly morning engagement session together.
Ummm…it was 27 degrees when we started. These two pull off warm like nobody’s bizz-nassss. That one on the right is one of my faves. 🙂
When Corey and I were picking out her outfits the night before, I demanded that she wear these amaze-fest shoes. She had to take itty bitty steps, but they were well worth it. And Troy Boy…love that one on the right.
Corey. You. Are. Gorgeous!!!!!!!
I can’t tell you how proud and honored I was when you guys asked me to take your engagement photos. I love you so so so so so soooooooooooooo much and can’t freaking WAIT for the wedding. xoxoxoxoxo
COREY + TROY
Fairmont, West Virginia
Together :: June 9, 2012 :: Engaged :: May 18, 2014 :: Wedding :: October 2, 2015
COREY :: Hometown :: Bridgeport, WV :: Favorite Food :: Sushi! :: Described by Troy :: Smart, Funny, Beautiful, Passionate, Inspiring
TROY (BOY) :: Hometown :: Grand Haven, MI :: Favorite Food :: Currently Nachos! (changes every month) :: Described by Corey :: Handsome, Enthusiastic, Witty, Ambitious, Generous
How They Met :: (as told by Corey) I had just graduated college and moved back home for grad school. I was at a bar in my hometown on a wing-night-Wednesday with friends from high school. Troy and I happened to have a mutual friend there, Jeff. Jeff was buying everyone shots of tequila, but Troy and I are both not the tequila shot type. So, we both slowly backed away from the group of shot-takers so we wouldn’t get conned into taking one. We caught each other’s eye and started talking (I spoke to him first, but he will insist it was the other way around). We spent the rest of the night at a table in the corner drinking beer and talking. At the end of the night I gave him my number and the rest is history! 🙂
How He Asked :: (as told by Troy) I asked Corey to marry me on a cruise we took throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. The second night of the cruise was a “formal” night and would make for the perfect time and setting. I had somehow managed to sneak the ring on the boat without my suspicious fiancé knowing (which is a much longer story in itself). All that was left to do was pop the question. After four gin and tonics of liquid courage and a beet red face I met Corey and her family for dinner in the crowded dining hall. I devised a plan to propose a toast to Corey’s parents, thanking them for arranging the vacation (which I told Corey about).. Obviously she was a little shocked when I ended the toast describing how amazing the past two years of my life had been and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. Luckily for me she said yes!
