The Wahl’s at the Beach

I’m so happy with the photographs from the Wahl’s day at the City Beach in Grand Haven, MI. I feel so lucky that I get to photograph the most expressive, happy and beautiful families. It makes the work so enjoyable! Without further a’do…here are my favorites from the batch. You can click on “More Photos” under the gallery for the entire collection.

To Andy, Tif and Pete…it was such a pleasure to photograph your family. I look forward to Pete’s Fall Photo session!! I bet the colors on campus will be gorgeous!

I’m going to be absent from the blog for the next 10 days…I’m going on the longest vacation I’ve had since the 7th grade!! We are leaving Friday morning at 4:00am (yikes!) and driving to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Sean’s mom’s side of the family has a reunion there almost every year. I can’t wait to take photos, lounge on the beach, drink wine and eat really yummy food.

I’m off to pack…which I should have done two days ago. Have a wonderful weekend!

Monica - Love it Love it Love it! I’ll def order some and help you work to that new Mac! Give me a call when you get back and help me pick out some.

National Night Out

Our neighborhood had a bit of excitement tonight! I was getting ready to make my dinner (and then finish up processing Pete’s photos) when I heard sirens coming down my street. I was a little nervous, especially when I looked outside and saw 2 police cars, a fire truck, an ambulance and a huge dump truck outside with lights flashing and sirens at full blast. Then I noticed all the kids and families across the street at the park cheering for them! I grabbed my camera and headed outside. I spoke with one of the officers (after he played a joke on me and told me that the city property was copyrighted and I couldn’t take photos – yes, I believed him for a hot second) and he told me that it was National Night Out – America’s Night Out Against Crime. This is an annual event designed to strengthen the neighborhoods through police-community relationships. The goal is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. It’s also a great way to get neighbors involved in Neighborhood Watch groups. All the kids took turns climbing in and out of the fire trucks, police cars and ambulances. And yes, I mentioned a dump truck…it had signs on it that said “Dump Drugs” – so creative! Here are just a few photos that I took while outside. It was so nice to meet all the neighbors!

Even McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog was there!! It looked like all the kids were having a blast. I hope that the Police and Fire Deparments had great turnouts at their other stops. Thank you for all that you do!

Pete, I haven’t forgotten you!! The rest of your photos are next! If you haven’t seen Pete’s family photos, scroll down for a peek at one of the cutest families ever!

A Little Peek at Pete

I just can’t wait any longer. I’m in the grueling part of photography known as post-processing. I sometimes wonder how other photographers feel about it. I think I’ve decided that I’m in a love-hate relationship…I love to hate it. I get so very excited when a particular shot that I liked turns out well…and even better during PP. But then aggravation and frustration can attack when things don’t always go as planned. Luckily during my current post-processing stage, things are going swimmingly! I even learned a new technique – collaging! So I can’t wait another minute…I have to give you a little peek at Pete.

This weekend was the 12th Annual Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven, MI.  On Thursday (before the mayhem began) I had a little photo session with one of the happiest kids on the planet – Pete. You may recognize Pete from a mini-photo shoot that I did with his mama in East Lansing. Dad was in on the game this round and I got a bunch of great family portraits. I hope you enjoy. I will post more as soon as I can. So stay tuned!!!
