Perfect Timing!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the most beautiful family at Buchanan Beach. The day started out a little dreary…but as luck would have it, the sun started to peek out just as we all were arriving at the beach. Perfect!!

Andrea and Alec were good sports for me. Especially Alec who is a sophomore in high school playing Varsity football!! I’ve known sweet Andrea since she was five years old….I was student teaching in her pre-school class when I was in high school…now she’s in EIGHTH grade!!! Yikes! I’m old! Andrea was such a beautiful model for me and I can’t wait to shoot her senior pictures some day!

This location was perfect! There was nobody on the beach (maybe due to the gloomy weather) and the contrast between the beach grass and the lake was perfect. Thanks for getting a little sandy for me guys!

Aren’t they a gorgeous family!?! You all were so much fun and very easy to work with. You guys are the best! Can’t wait to get together again! Don’t forget to check out your personal gallery for more photos.

Bell + Marley = BFF

Meet two of the cutest dogs in Michigan! Bell is a new edition for Chris and Kristen who are now living in Chicago. She is a beautiful golden retreiver who doesn’t run off even when she’s left outside unnoticed for ten minutes. 😉 Marley is a new edition for Brandon who lives up in Bellaire, MI. Both doggies were in Grand Haven last week and had their very own (quick) photoshoot. Marley was waaaaay too interested in eating the acorns off the driveway to pay attention to me, so we’ll have to shoot him again soon.

Aren’t they just the cutest dogs!?!? And I love the little family picture of Chris, Kristen and Bell. So sweet!! Next time we are all in town we need to take some fall/snow action shots with the dogs on the golf course! How fun!!

I also want to thank Emily, Mike, Drew, Jimmy, Justin and Kim for helping me celebrate my 27th birthday! I had such a fun, fun time with everyone on Saturday and I hope you all did too. My favorite part was my very yummy chocolate cake surprise at dinner…and that white wine with the tricky cork/cap.

teemoon13 - OMG… that dog is soo cute! What type of dog is he? I have a dog too, I was told it was black lab/pit bull, but after testing found out it’s german sheppard/dalmation/boston terrier. Great picture.

Gorgeous Grand Haven

How lucky am I?!?!? I actually grew up with this in my back yard!! I took this last week when I was home visiting my friends and parents in Grand Haven, MI. This was taken at the end of our street at Buchanan Beach. My mom was on her way home from a teacher’s conference and called to tell me I was missing a gorgeous sunset. I hopped in the Jeep and raced to the end of the street in time to capture these colors.

I feel so blessed to have grown up in a fun little town in West Michigan. My heart and soul belong in West Virginia, but Grand Haven is the place that I grew into the person I am today. The awkward teenage years, getting my driver’s license, getting into my first “fender bender”, the turbulent times in High School, winning a Cheerleading State Championship, many Coast Guard Festival celebrations, growing both apart and closer with some of the best friends a girl could ask for…these are just a few of the things that I think about and find comfort in when I visit Grand Haven today. Many thanks to my mom and dad for bringing us to GH and for keeping us there. I love you!

In photography news…I’m waaaaay behind in my processing!! Life has been moving at turbo speed lately and I’m still getting over a horrific cold that kept me down and out for a few days. I apologize that you haven’t seen the fun photos that I took last weekend. THEY ARE COMING!! I promise! Chris, Kristen and Bell…I haven’t forgotten you. Marley, you’re next…then the Smith’s and then Emma. Whewy!! Lots of irons in the fire.

In Marathon news….I completed my furthest and longest training run so far. Meg and I ran EIGHTEEN MILES on Tuesday! I felt like a super star! It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I feel confident and actually excited to tackle our big 20 miler in a couple weeks. All of your support and well wishes have been greatly appreciated! Thanks for being my cheerleaders!

And in Birthday news….I’m spending the weekend with a few very special people who are all near and dear to my heart. So, as I ring in my 27th year…I will not be lugging around the camera. No one needs to see the debauchery that we could find ourselves in.

I’m out for the weekend…yes I know it’s only Thursday…27 only comes once in a lifetime.

Mmmmmmmmwah!!! (That’s a huge kiss to you all!)
