Gorgeous Grand Haven

How lucky am I?!?!? I actually grew up with this in my back yard!! I took this last week when I was home visiting my friends and parents in Grand Haven, MI. This was taken at the end of our street at Buchanan Beach. My mom was on her way home from a teacher’s conference and called to tell me I was missing a gorgeous sunset. I hopped in the Jeep and raced to the end of the street in time to capture these colors.

I feel so blessed to have grown up in a fun little town in West Michigan. My heart and soul belong in West Virginia, but Grand Haven is the place that I grew into the person I am today. The awkward teenage years, getting my driver’s license, getting into my first “fender bender”, the turbulent times in High School, winning a Cheerleading State Championship, many Coast Guard Festival celebrations, growing both apart and closer with some of the best friends a girl could ask for…these are just a few of the things that I think about and find comfort in when I visit Grand Haven today. Many thanks to my mom and dad for bringing us to GH and for keeping us there. I love you!

In photography news…I’m waaaaay behind in my processing!! Life has been moving at turbo speed lately and I’m still getting over a horrific cold that kept me down and out for a few days. I apologize that you haven’t seen the fun photos that I took last weekend. THEY ARE COMING!! I promise! Chris, Kristen and Bell…I haven’t forgotten you. Marley, you’re next…then the Smith’s and then Emma. Whewy!! Lots of irons in the fire.

In Marathon news….I completed my furthest and longest training run so far. Meg and I ran EIGHTEEN MILES on Tuesday! I felt like a super star! It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I feel confident and actually excited to tackle our big 20 miler in a couple weeks. All of your support and well wishes have been greatly appreciated! Thanks for being my cheerleaders!

And in Birthday news….I’m spending the weekend with a few very special people who are all near and dear to my heart. So, as I ring in my 27th year…I will not be lugging around the camera. No one needs to see the debauchery that we could find ourselves in.

I’m out for the weekend…yes I know it’s only Thursday…27 only comes once in a lifetime.

Mmmmmmmmwah!!! (That’s a huge kiss to you all!)

Uncle Jim - Another beautiful pic Meg Peg, hopefully Aunt Cathy and I will be able to see some of those views of GH in November *S*.

Here’s Abby!

I think you can tell from these photographs that Abby and her family were an absolute joy to shoot. They live right across the street from a park. After taking a few shots in the back yard with Abby, we walked across the street and turned her loose! I’m happy that these photographs capture the love, joy and spontaneity that only a three year old can bring. I hope you enjoy!

It was so nice to meet you Becky, Jon and Abby! I’d love to photograph you all anytime!

In Marathon news….I ran 16 miles today with my partner in crime (Miss Meghan) and I’m now feeling the pain. I wish my computer chair was a Lazy Boy. If you’ve been following my Marathon progress, you’d know that this week was supposed to be 14 miles. I’ve been feeling rather inspired lately and talked Meg into going for 16. Even though our time was miserably slow (they say to run slower than your race pace anyway) we finished and can now look forward to our next big run…18 miles one week from today. Ouch!!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Don’t forget The Hills tonight! 🙂

Tif - These are fantastic! I especially love the “pile-on” one at the end – so very cute. I’m glad the shoot went well!!

Mary Ann - I agree with Tiff… the family shot at the end with the sun getting low in the late summer sky highlights the pure joy this wonderful little family radiates! That’s a happy family if I have ever seen one.

Jon - Thanks Megan! I wasn’t sure, at first, about the idea of having a photographer come out to the house. I’m glad my wife convinced me. You captured much better shots than anything we’ve ever got in any studio. These turned out great! We have already started referring you to friends and family.

Meghan - Meg! You turn every family into models. I agree with your mom and Tiff. That picture belongs in picture frames at Macy’s before people buy them. Thanks for the shout out!!!! MWAH

A Super, Teeny, Tiny Sneak Peek of Beautiful Abby

I can’t wait any more!! I had the absolute pleasure of photographing one of the cutest families this week! Abby is a beautiful three year old blond with a passion for running, Polly Pocket and smiling! She also has a weakness for M&M’s…which made us two peas in a pod. She was such a ham for my camera!! Her mommy and daddy were so sweet and up for any crazy idea that Abby and I had for the photo shoot. For that, I thank you guys! So here is a teeny, tiny teaser for you.

The sun and the sky were perfect! As the sun went down, it cast this gorgeous autumn glow over everything. It made for beautiful photos later in the evening.

I loved how the light was coming through the ladder on Abby’s swing set that evening. It gave the tiniest lens flare and a sweet, angelic glow around her. It was extremely fitting!

Look at those eyes!! She is going to be a heart breaker! And look at that hair!! Women pay big money to have hair color that gorgeous. Becky, Jon and Abby, I can’t wait to show you the rest of your photos. Stay tuned! I’m hoping to have them up sometime next week.

Have a wonderful weekend!
